MotoGP 13 gameplay riding as Kevin Schwantz on the Lucky Strike RGV500 Suzuki for ten laps around Le Mans.
Kevin Schwantz was, to my mind, one of the most unassuming yet charismatic riders to ever throw a leg over a 500GP motorcycle. As a younger man back in the 80's and 90's he was my motorcycle racing hero and nobody rode a 500GP bike like Schwantz.
He didn't always win, he may not have been the greatest ever rider in terms of wins, titles and consistency but stats are just stats and say little about the man and the rider. Watching him ride was inexplicably thrilling with his unique style and skills.
The RGV500 was, and still is, one of the most beautiful grand prix bikes ever built and nobody could ride it like Schwantz. Underpowered at many circuits, it was Kevin's skill and daring that won him races, frequently having to ride harder than all his peers in the top tier in order to beat them and their more powerful machinery.
Schwantz stayed loyal to Suzuki throughout his 500GP career, despite, no doubt, other offers. His career long rivalry with Mr Perfect, Wayne Rainey, gave us some epic races and memories along with the other riders of that era, the likes of whom I don't think we will ever see again. When he stopped racing, I stopped watching.
So, this gameplay video is just a little tribute to Mr Kevin Schwantz and a thanks for all the memories. I only wish I could have done it around Donington Park and I apologize to Kevin for the riding which really doesn't do the man justice :-)
